Background
I made the decision when I was in second grade that I wanted to be a teacher, perhaps it was at that point I realized that my previous dream of being a ballerina wasn't going to work out due to a complete lack of coordination. At the tender age of seven, I knew that teachers could dance, sing and entertain so it seemed to be the next logical profession.
Education
I grew up in a very small, very rural town called Edwards. At one point in history it had a one room school house where my grandmother was taught. However, that one room school house was converted into 'Ye Old School House Bar and Grill which meant that I went to school in the next nearest town, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. I attended Viking Elementary School and Pelican Rapids Secondary for junior high and high school.
During my Senior year, I decided to participate in the Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO). This allowed me to spend the majority of my Senior year of high school attending classes at the local community college. I graduated from high school in 2001, and in 2002 I was wearing a different color cap and gown for the Fergus Falls Community College graduation.
To complete my undergrad Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education, I transferred to Minnesota State University Moorhead. In the fall of 2004, I attended Towson University in Maryland as part of the National Student Exchange Program. In May 2005 I once again adorned a cap and gown as an MSUM dragon.
I was accepted into the Masters program at the Johns Hopkins School of Education in the fall of 2010 and was awarded a Master in Science in Education Supervision and Administration in December 2012.
